WIA has always been dedicated to empowering, cultivating, and celebrating the contributions of ALL in the design community. This years leadership represents new perspectives, in hopes of elevating issues that affect the AEC profession. Read more about each committee leader below!

Jamie is an Architect and Studio Director at BNIM. As the inaugural Director of EDI+J for the San Diego chapter she played a pivotal role in incorporating EDI+J issues into the strategic plan. Jamie helped establish the Laura Shinn Diversity Scholarship and mentorship program and is this years Chapter Vice President. She is also serving her second-year term on the AIA California board, as Chair of the Statewide EDI+J committee.

BRYAN JIMENEz

Bryan is Higher Education Practice Director and licensed mechanical engineer at Henderson Engineering. He also chairs Henderson's latest people resource group, Need4Green. Henderson’s culture is deeply rooted in inclusivity and belonging. Their DEI program is made up of 4 different people resource groups, REAL (Race, Equity, and Learning), UNITE, EMPOWER, and Need4Green. Bryan's alignment with Henderson’s Community sector derives from his fervor for community involvement and his dedication to creating environments that resonate with local communities, driven by the ethos of #CommunityMatters.

Kristen Tuerk is a Licensed Architect and Senior Design Manager at Balfour Beatty. Kristen’s background in architecture and construction positions her to bring together integrated teams to execute some of the largest projects in California. She plays an active role in Balfour Beatty’s Connecting Women group, where she serves as National Liaison. Balfour Beatty is committed to fostering an inclusive, people-centric culture, evident through their affinity groups such as Connecting Women, Building PRIDE, NOBLE, Somos, and REGAL. These groups provide platforms for connection, relationship-building, and idea generation, aligning with the company's dedication to an inclusive culture that values all contributions.
