The Emerging Professional's Companion is an online resource developed by the AIA and NCARB primarily for use by interns in gaining IDP credit. With the July 2009 edition of the EPC, interns can earn more than supplementary education-Interns can earn up to 5 Minimum (core) Training Units in each IDP Training Area.

UPDATE! Petition created on Care2 Petiton website regarding NCARB fees.
An online petition called "Architectural Economy" has been started by a concerned member of our profession.
Full Petition Reads:
"As you know, the last two years have been difficult for the architectural community. A great number of jobs have been eliminated due to lack of work. In fact, according to the latest study from the Georgia Department of Labor, the current unemployment rate in Georgia is up to a striking 9.5%. As a result, many interns are determined to take certification exams while unemployed; however, the exam fees are costly while unemployed.
To compound the problem, many people that are experiencing hardship due to lack of work have suffered charges from NCARB related to reinstatement fees. It is also my understanding that NCARB has proposed to raise the exam fees for the Architectural Registration Exams (ARE) by 20% above the current exam cost ($170 per exam to $210 per exam).
As an architect that holds an NCARB record, I am writing to ask NCARB to waive the reinstatement fees for NCARB record holders that have proof of unemployment related to lack of work. I am also writing to ask NCARB to waive the 20% escalated costs associated with taking the ARE for NCARB record holders. The 20% escalated fees should be withdrawn for the duration of time it takes for the national unemployment rate to stabilize."
