Mission
"The mission of the Women in Architecture Committee is to create an environment of camaraderie and fellowship for women professionals and students, and to provide an opportunity for dialogue about issues of interest to women within the design community."
History
Women in Architecture Committee or WIA (pronounced "wee-ah") was established in 2007 under the Fellowship Commission of the AIA San Diego Chapter.
WIA strives to:
- Establish venues for community outreach and involvement
- Promote the development of professional practice
- Stimulate a network within our design community

Events
WIA meets once a month, typically the first Monday of each Month. Events range from Casual Socials, Roundtable discussions with leading professionals in the industry, and Special Events like construction tours or seminars.
The events strive to promote WIA's mission through:
- Education
- Architecture Tours
- Community Outreach
- Social networking

Subcommittees
In order to achieve our goals and promote our mission, subcommittees have been formed to allow members to become involved while accommodating a variety of interests.

- Practice professional development | project management | licensure

Participation
Although we encourage AIA membership, Women in Architeture events and activities are open to all individuals, AIA members and Non-AIA Members.
