On behalf of the AIA San Diego Board of Directors and staff, thank you for your commitment to membership in The American Institute of Architects, San Diego Chapter! With over 1,100 members, AIA San Diego ranks fourth in size among California AIA chapters.  We appreciate your support, and look forward to working with you to realize the AIA San Diego mission.

Consider these ways to take full advantage of your AIA membership:

Get involved with peers on an AIA San Diego committee.
Connect with others who share your interests, express your professional concerns, and advance your design leadership goals by joining an AIA San Diego committee. Committees meet regularly to support chapter activities, create engaging programs, and produce member events. Committee activities address four mission areas: Advocacy, Fellowship, Practice, Public Awareness and Young Architects. 


Stay abreast of current advocacy and government affairs.
AIA San Diego's advocacy efforts advance the professional agenda in national, state, and local government affairs. Read about current legislative activity and advocacy in action.

Attend an AIA San Diego meeting or other event.
Join the Board of Directors and other members for interaction among design community leaders, consideration of current professional issues, involvement in organizational action and business, and celebration of special design community events. See the current calendar for upcoming events, or plan ahead with the AIA San Diego annual calendar. 

Advance your learning goals through AIA Continuing Education.
Starting with their second year of membership, all AIA Members must complete 18 learning units (LUs) annually with at least 8 of the 18 LU hours relating to health, safety, and/or welfare (HSW). Earn Learning Units and hone your professional skills by joining your colleagues at an AIA San Diego continuing education workshop. The annual menu typically covers a spectrum of topics addressed by professional experts from the design and building industry, with events each month offered FREE to AIA San Diego members.  It's easy to register online with your member number to take full advantage of these programs.

Take advantage of the AIA Advantage Program.
A variety of resources that you can use to make your practice successful are available through the AIA Advantage program.  Advantage Partners include rental car, shipping, computer, and banking service providers.  For details on these resources, click here.
