WHY ARE SUBSCRIPTIONS NOW AVAILABLE?  Good question!

While we are optimistic that the current economic situation is slowly improving, we recognize that it is still a very tough time to be in the architecture and design profession.  The chapter has seen a slight decrease in its membership over the past three years and, when doing both formal and informal research, we’ve learned something of interest:  Most of our former members are no longer members because of the three-tiered dues structure. 

In the past, many professionals have enjoyed and benefited from being an AIA member; however, with limited credit for funding projects and the general malaise of the overall economy, architects and design professionals have had to carefully consider where they spend their money.  With regret, many of them have lapsed in their AIA membership.

AIA San Diego wants to keep people connected to the profession and to the industry.  We’ve offered a 25% dues reduction to members with financial hardships for three years now; we were one of the first chapters in the country to offer a dues payment plan (in 2008).  While we can’t control the dues fees and benefits and services of what the national AIA and AIA California Council offer, we can make local benefits and services available at a time when professionals need their association most.

To that end, we’ve created an AIA San Diego Subscriber opportunity.  As a valued Subscriber, you’ll receive many of the benefits and services that you received when you were a full-fledged member.  You’ll get our valued member communications, maintain access to most of our programs and events, and keep connected to the profession.  The subscription fee is just $10 per month.
