Path to licensure... AIA San Diego can help!
Start your path to licensure by enrolling in the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards’ (NCARB) Intern Development Program (IDP) and the Comprehensive Intern Development Program (CIDP). The California Architects Board requires that, prior to licensure, new candidates complete both. Your AIA San Diego Young Architects Commission has a task force that is available to help! IDP UPDATE: Training Units Become Training Hours in January 2010. Submitting your IDP experience is easier! On 1 January 2010, training units became training hours. One training unit equals eight training hours. The IDP training requirement went from 700 training units to 5,600 training hours. The actual number of hours required to complete the IDP remains the same. One hour of acceptable work experience equals one training hour for all experience reports entered after 1 January 2010. The conversion of previously entered units to training hours will happen automatically within the e-EVR. No experience will be lost. Click here for more info.
AIA San Diego can help you earn IDP credits!!! IDP requires hours in Professional and Community Service. Volunteer for an AIA San Diego committee and start earning those credits!!! One AIA learning unit (LU) will equal one IDP training hour. Credits for AIA learning units are based on the day the credit is earned. Examples of learning units earned on or after 1 January 2010:
- 1 AIA learning units (LUs) equal 1 IDP training hours
- 2.5 AIA learning units (LUs) equal 2.5 IDP training hours
Check out AIA San Diego’s Lunchtime Learning Seminars for (double-credit earning) opportunities. Note: An AIA transcript must accompany your IDP training reports documenting completion of AIA-approved resources.
