Fiesta Island

Does anybody know what the city of San Diego is planning to do with Fiesta Island? I heard they are updating the general plan for it.

Fiesta Island - a metaphor?

No clue about Fiesta Island, an island of vitality in a sea of vanilla.

Over the years the "beauticians" (I call 'em) have proposed various beautification schemes. (Grassy mounds and beige concrete "paths.") Thankfully we have OMBAC to punch holes in that curtain of "planning" with local character. Air and sunshine whoosh in.

Professional planning, schooled thinking on a budget, can be deadly to "real" (messy and vital) city life. As they are on budgets, planners often don't, or can't, detail great construction anyway. They leave out texture, historic reference, grace and mess, contradiction and complexity.

You gotta plan some accidents, mix some plaids. Sometimes anarchy is a good thing. It prevents false gentrification.
