Tour: The Commons at the San Diego County Operations Center
October 12 @ 11:00 am
Join AIA|San Diego, in cooperation with SDG&E’s Savings by Design program, for a professional development/continuing education tour series featuring some of San Diego’s most energy-efficient, yet beautiful, new buildings. All four projects are either ZNE or LEED Platinum, and embody many of the technologies and design approaches that are helping San Diego lead the country in the creation of innovative, attractive and efficient buildings.
The actual tour experience, typically led by the Project Manager and/or members of the design-team, will be followed by an informal panel to dig deeper into specific project attributes. (Learn more about each project below.)
Each tour counts for 1.5 hours of CE credit – HSW-eligible.
The Commons at the San Diego County Operations Center
October 12 – 11AM
The Conference Center is an $11 million LEED Platinum project located at the heart of the new County of San Diego Operations Center. It houses the County’s Planning and Environmental Review Board / Alternate Board of Supervisor’s hearing room; and the Campus Commons, a dining facility and central gathering place that will support up to 4,000 County employees. The project showcases the County of San Diego’s strong commitment to sustainability by incorporating water savings, renewable energy, improved occupant health and comfort, and energy efficient design strategies.
Alpine Branch Library
November 7 – 11AM
The Alpine Library is a single-story structure that features unique spaces for children, teens and adults alike, not only serving as a vibrant learning center for its users, but also creating a busy hive of activity and cultural exchange. This is the County of San Diego’s first Zero Net Energy Certification.
