This program is intended to explain the role of the Geotechnical Engineer in the acquisition, design, construction, and maintenance for development of small to large structures and land development projects utilizing a combination of science, experience, and common sense.

  1. Investigate San Diego Geotechnical design strategies and issues.
  2. Discover the process that a Geotechnical Engineer goes through regarding preliminary geotechnical analysis as part of the land acquisition and concept studies.
  3. Describe the thought process and information used by the Geotechnical consultant in preliminary geotechnical studies.
  4. List the benefits of a final design review of Civil and Structural plans for value engineering.
  5. Discuss the role and value the Geotechnical Engineer can provide during construction.
  6. List the benefits of final documentation produced by your Geotechnical consultant to minimize your risk for future litigation.
