The Utility Planning Process: Getting approved, starting on time, and avoiding delays
Upon completion of this course you will be able to:
- Discuss the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Rule 15 Applicant “Design Option” as an alternative to traditional submittals and compare and contrast it with the traditional process.
- List the key approvals and milestones needed for the design planner to begin his/her designs.
- Recognize the road blocks in the utility planning process which may cause project delays in the design and construction phase.
- Identify when a project is considered a “bona fide project” and when the utility will begin its gas and electric designs.
- Specify the process of establishing service to a new building or modifying service to an existing building and discuss the timing and the expected lead times.
- Summarize the role of the Dry Utility Consultant and discuss the additional services they provide.
