Advanced & integrated methods for increased efficiency of solar energy systems

While photovoltaic (PV) solar systems can readily power a home, they only use about 15% of the sun’s energy. The remaining energy, mostly in the form of heat (or thermal energy) remains untapped. During this workshop, you'll learn about a hybrid solar system that incorporates unique thermal technology to turbo-charge PV panel efficiency.  Ryan Stepp of PVT Solar will speak about the Echo system that uses an integrated PV array to generate both electrical and thermal energy, capturing the heat for hot water and for home heating and cooling. This integrated system can provide power to meet more of a home’s total energy needs by harnessing more than 50% of the sun's energy as well as helping to meet Title 24 & CalGreen requirements.
