PRESENTER: 

Paul A. Joelson, AIA, CSI, CASp, a licensed architect, certified access specialist, general contractor and certified building inspector, Joelson has specialized in the reconstruction design and management, ADA compliance assessments and quality control consulting during a 37 year career. Over the last 15 years, he has provided consulting and expert services on the following issues- distressed properties in litigation; disputes over architect, developer, builder and subcontractor performance; repair plans with cost estimates and management to implement reconstruction programs. Joelson holds a bachelor of architecture from San Diego’s NewSchool of Architecture and Design and is a member of AIA San Diego, Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), and Forensic Consultants Association- San Diego (FCA).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Discuss operative federal and state codes for design of new and alteration of existing public and private projects.

3. Explore challenges in accessing compliance and making recommendations to upgrade projects built prior to current standards.
