This project aims to reduce plan check time by creating a set of standarized notes used county-wide.
The theory is simple: each building or project type must meet a minimum number of requirements mandated by the state-wide building code. Therefore, agreeing on a standarized system used both by those who create plans and those who check them, it could be quickly verified that a project meets those requirements, reducing both plan-check time and re-submittals.
Notes for single family dwellings will serve as a prototype with other building types added later. So far, the Codes, Permits & Processing Committee has discussed this idea, with favorable response, from the City of San Diego, County of San Diego, and the International Code Council, San Diego chapter.
